Depends on the software, most 3D modelling software do use GPU, but they may need to install some additional software. If you are using Blender, Blender should have a pre-installed CUDA software that could be activated if you have supported nVidia GPU in your system. If you are using AMD/ATi GPU, then you need to download a blender plug-in from the AMD websites in order to utilised your GPU.

Okay, let's see...

Well, you can check this out. This is what I can come up with, so you can see if it fits to your liking.

Ah okay cool. I typically use fusion 360 but maybe I should try blender. For the meantime thought I will try finding the plugin to work with my rx580.

Wow that is rather close to what I ended up building. I just need to switch to the 2080 super, add a wifi m.2 card, and the card reader and then I have basically the same build.
Thanks for the help

Well, now a days, any machine fit for gaming can be used for 3D modelling. Maybe you can give more specification, such as what games are you trying to play, that way we might be able to choose a compatible graphic card.

So here are some question to determine your ideal hardware:

- How much storage are you going to need or planning to have?

- Anything 'special' criteria, such as USB-C ports or Thunderbolt port? How about M.2 (or NGFF) ports?

- With or without Wi-Fi? Need multi-gigabit ethernet?

- Fancy or flashy RGB lighting or plain normal looking one?

- Other hardware consideration such as SAS cards or Blu-ray drives.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

I don't play many games right now as I just got done building a machine that can finally play modern games but lets say I wanted to play rollercoaster tycoon then switch to Doom Eternal, and then maybe the new Half Life VR game.

The only thing I know about 3d modeling and computer hardware is that it doesn't use the GPU for some reason. Its all done on the CPU.

Storage: lets say 2TB + 500gb to 1TB SSD
Special: I don't know what NGFF is but maybe a usb-c port on the case
Wifi yes or no and don't need gigabit just yet (hopefully someday I will have it again)
RGB not needed but if its on a component then whatever.
HArdware, maybe a SD card reader on the case? But thats not really a big deal

Oh, I see. What Mobo are you using? You can only add PCIe WiFi card if your MoBo doesn't come with WiFi, as the M2 usually is hidden and not easily accessible, and most of the time, the motherboard manufacturer just out right solder the chip on the board rather than having an M2 slot for WiFi.

Here's the link to download some 3D software plug-in for Radeon GPU: https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-prorender-downloads

MSI x570 Gaming Plus It has 2 m.2 slots that are fairly easy to get it but I think I will just go with a pci-e card
