Budget (including currency): $1400 USD

Country: U.S.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: COD, APEX, Overwatch, GTA etc, haven't branched out much since I've been limited by my current laptop

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I don't really have any peripherals but I'll make them work for now. I can get a crappy $20 keyboard and mouse from walmart or something in the mean time. I need a monitor and have one included in a couple rough draft builds. I also don't have windows but I figured I'd use the demo version until I can get a legit copy.

This is my example AMD build based on a build that was actually featured on pcpartpicker, I just modified some parts

This is my example Intel build, also based on the same featured build.

Basically I have 1280 dollars and my girl said she would be willing to spot me a couple hundred if needed. There might be SOME flexibility but I'm not trying to inconvenience anyone so any suggestions would be nice.

Don't go with an Intel build because the CPU's are overpriced and 10th Gen is coming in June. If your girl can give you a couple of hundred bucks more, then go with this build I tried, I mean 200ish bucks more for a 1440p 144hz gaming experience. You don't need a monitor that's 1440p 75hz.

If not then go with this. It's 40$ above the budget, but I tried balancing it out.

Well I figured that even though it's 75hz, it's still decent for entry level and a monitor is a lot easier to upgrade than an internal component.

How do those Radeon GPUs stack up against the RTX?

It's not. I get that a monitor is easier to upgrade, but you don't have to spend money again to upgrade. I mean saving up money and buying a straight 1440p 144hz monitor is better.

The RX 5700 XT has the same level of performance as the RTX 2070S. In some titles though, depending which games favor Nvidia or AMD, the difference is 10-20 FPS.

The same thing applies for the RTX 2060 and RX 5600 XT.
