you need to connect your monitor to your gpu, not to the motherboard.

hello,

ive been wanting to build a gaming pc for a while and now i have the chance to do it but i dont know what the gpu connections are used for, i need something on my pc to have a DP and the motherboard i wanted is out of stock so can i use the DP on my gpu to connect it to my monitor?

you should always use video output on the GPU, that's why you bought one in the first place
