malwarebytes, best by far

AVG, because I'm too cheap to get anything that isn't free.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

I use AVG but Avast is great as well. Malwarebytes is the best for on-demand scanning that's free.

In my opinion, Malwarebytes is the best, and the most lightweight. And it doesn't get annoying with random popup ads about upgrading to the paid version. And if your like me, and you download Game Trainers for PC Games, you can turn off "Real Time Scanning" with just one or two mouse clicks, so Malwarebytes doesn't delete the Trainer when you try to run it, thinking its a virus.  And when you turn off Real Time Scanning for the time you are using the Trainer, the other security features stay on and protect your PC. And you can even disable Malwarebytes completely and make it so it doesn't start up with your PC, so it isn't active at all, until you run it and put it back on the Start Up list.

I know with most Anti Virus programs, you cannot disable the program completely. Such as McAfee, the only way to disable it completely is to boot into safemode, and uninstall it. I don't think you can uninstall it any other way (However, I haven't used McAfee in years, so it could be different now, im not sure)
