Problem: I can't enter the BIOS setup - the screen is just blank.

Windows 10 boots and works just fine.

I need to set things that can't be set elsewhere than in BIOS like Virtualization, that can't be done in software. Only in bios.

HW: Ryzen 9 3900X (so no integrated GPU), mobo Asus x570-p with latest BIOS 1407, GPU Sapphire RX 580 8GB, TV Samsung NU8000 via HDMI

Tried: spamming del/f2, disabling Fast boot, different HDMI cables, BIOS update, a PC monitor via HDMI and DVI, clearing CMOS, entering BIOS via Windows 10 Advanced boot, moving the GPU to the other PCIE slot.

I think the bios is actually entered, just not visible.

Weird: Removing NVMe Windows 10 boot drive SOMETIMES fixes the issue for a while but it always eventually comes back within a few restarts.

Any tips?

I'm sorry but there have been two answers so far and both suggest things I've stated in the original post that I have already tried. Do people not read the actual questions before answering?

To the downgrade suggestion - thanks but that can only be done through bios, so a bit of a Catch 22 situation ...

I believe theres a switch on the card for legacy and eufi bios modes. Perhaps the switch is in the legacy position.

To confirm, read the manual.

Gl.

My rx 580 is a Sapphire Nitro+ 8gb. There's a switch but it only switches between quiet and performance mode. Gpu-z says the card is in UEFI mode.

Thanks though, this looks like it could actually lead somewhere.

you said removing the nvme allows you temporary access, no? maybe try a flash after removing nvme.

Sometimes, not always. It's Really weird. Thanks.

The drive is sharing PCI-E resources. I believe that's why you are having an issue and occasionally the system will post bios visually at least sometimes. We can call it Intermittent issue then yes?

RMA the board.

BIOS NEVER shows up unless I remove the drive and even then only sometimes. It's probably some kind of bios bug but yes, I'll probably just return it. Thanks!
