i7 9700k? Go ryzen

9900k? Pick either but usually that means you can go with a 3900x for the same price which again has 50% more cores too so you still get better value for the money there.

Or just go for a ryzen 3700,3700x,3800x and use what you save if you were looking at a 9900k in another place for the system.

Which are better? Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7? The reason I ask is me and my Dad are going to be building a Windows 10 gaming computer and my Dad wants to put an i7 but I'd like to put a Ryzen

Well the ryzen 7 has more ipc

And is a little more efficient

And the platform will last you longer

And the 3700x has a better memory controller (technically)

Over all I would go for the 3700x , while the 9700k is better for single threaded work loads the 3700x will be pretty close and it will be WAY better in multi threaded work loads that would utilize the extra threads and the extra ipc count

So for more versatility go for the 3700x

If the 9700k is cheaper for that
