HELP! New Gaming PC Intel or AMD

Okay, so, AMD has used one socket for years, where intel has changed theirs multiple times. With AMD, you likely won't have to make a huge generation jump when you want to upgrade eventually.

If you only plan on gaming and streaming and don't care about getting the absolute highest FPS possible, go with AMD. Pretty much the only advantage Intel has over AMD at the moment is their core frequencies (those numbers measured in Mhz on CPU listings) Higher frequency means higher FPS but the increases diminish as you go up. The only reason you should really consider intel is if you're buying an $1100 GPU and trying to break a world record for framerates. Most people wouldn't even notice the difference. AMD is better value across the board.

Finally ready to upgrade from my docked gaming laptop set up to dedicated gaming PC. Budget is 2k/2.5k.

My biggest challange is what CPU to go for AMD Ryzen 7/9 or Intel i7/i9 I watched Linus DIY Gaming PC guide 2020 video but then I look online to places like reddit and most people arguing Intel over AMD and it all becomes a bit of a blur for me.

Any help appreciated.

Depends on what you plan on doing with it. Intel is slightly better for gaming because of higher core frequencies, AMD is better for stuff like workload tasks and programs that can better make use of additional cores.

Plan on gaming mostly and maybe go into steaming also. also planning on using pcspecialist.co.uk to build the system.

so intel uses lga slots, lga slots have a different number either lga 1151 or lga 1200 the number refers to the pins that each cpu has if you need a motherboard you need to search for the cpu's exact pin and if its lga or am4 aka the sockets. am4 is a socket for ryzen based cpu's
