Hello Guys! I hope you guys are doing okay amidst this global pandemic.

Anyhow, I'm looking to upgrade my existing potato PC (Looking also to build another PC if lucky enough to get some parts on sale)

Looking into B450 mobos lately since i cant afford boards higher than b450s.

Which board should i get? MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC or MSI B450 tomahawk max? Is there any difference or upgrade when i get Gaming pro? price point difference is at ~20$.

P.S. I know it's sad that this boards wont support Ryzen 4000 series but considering an upgrade from an A320 board and a Ryzen 3 2200g is worth, i think.

Which  cpu are you going to upgrade to?

Looking at the 3300x right now but i dont know yet when will supplies reach near me. Also considering Ryzen 3600/2600.

But for now i'll stick my APU on that board. Btw I OC'ed it to 3.9ghz at stock voltage through Ryzen Master only. (Tried in the bios but failed)

I got an A320 board with a b350 chipset on it. I cant adjust voltage/undervolt so i got stucked on auto.

I would suggest to wait on that MOBO keep using A320 one cuz let's say in future you want to upgrade to newer generation cpu (might be 4000 series or 5000 series cpu ) for b450 as of now AMD is saying there is no support for 4000 series but could release bios updates afterwards just like they did with A320 for 3rd gen Ryzen and moreover some manufactures like MSI did promise support for future genrations cpu on thier websites which is 4000 series, I dont know how AMD will take this as quite a  percentage of team red is pissed with b450 support being withdrawn for 4000 series cpu. Let's hope they keep that support but if they withdraw that support then there is no future proofing with that b450 mobo.  I would suggest you to wait for b550 and they buy 3300x along with it so that you can be futureproof as we have seen with AMD they keep same chipset supported for at least 2 genrations of upcoming cpu. B550 being latest should support 5000 series as well if they still keep AM4 for 5000. They release new cpu every year and I am sure you would upgrade to newer cpu after two years as you are gonna do right now. There is no point in upgarding mobo now as it would not increase your performance anyway. if you are tight on budget but you can still spare money for cpu, you can buy ryzen 3 3300x and use with A320 chipset with updated bios as i said earlier and buy b550 later on.

Good point. Hope this A320 board wont give up on me tho. Thanks dude.

If this mobo gives up just buy another A320 😅.  There is another speculation going around, 5000 series might get new socket alltogether as AMD said back in 2016 that they will keep support for AM4 till 2020 and we are here.I do not think so after buying 3300x you would  upgarde to 4000 series which would be releasing in october 2020 or so. You can either wait for 4000 series which will let you game with good fps for 2 years at least if you are casual gamer with b550 which will cost you more money or just buy 3300x and keep on running with same MOBO and save money for  5000 series or 6000 cuz . Amd might release ddr5 ram as well with 5000 series.

Ya. Just finished reading an article bout the 550s and ddr5 supports. I personally think i can settle on a b450 board but who knows. another consideration are the GPU prices. since im running an APU for now, i dont know which GPU to get paired tl a possible 3600/2600 or 3300x. Im eyeing the RX 580 tho. is it still viable for that chips?

rx 580 is best if you aiming for $150 price to $200 price bracket.you can get it as low as for $169 on new egg  And for sure you can go with b450  if you are looking to overclock 3300x which you obviously would do and oc RAM too as it favors the cpu. Buy b450 carbonn ac as it i just costing you $20 more...i'd say buy a cheapest b450 as it would support oc as well, rather than tomahwak or gaming ac.Cheaper b450will support each and everything that a carbon ac could just with less bells and whistles but  that money that you will save on mobo will can be used for  nvme.2 or ssd with high capacity which will actually up the performance of your build a lot. if you have that already invest that in cpu (more likely to happen as 3300x is for $120 where 3600 is $172 ish)or gpu (anything worth upgarding form rx 580 would 1660 super but would cost you somewhere around $240 ish ).Moreover spending more than $100 on mb which is not futureproof would not make sense as the cpu you are buying itself is $120.

ooh. so even a budget b450 say.. B450m pro4-f would do? hmm. im eyeing gaming carbon and tomahawk because of the reviews of its OC capability. Temps and such things. (also so much fan headers on tomahawk lol)

I agree with you .. pay more and get more.. but gaming ac and tomahawk max are for those who are looking to buy 3600x or 3700x.. if you are gonna use 3300x then B450m pro4-f would a good option as well cuz it actaully has better VRM as compared to some other entry level b450 mobo and can be found for like $70 ish.. more over u are oc'ing on A320 (LOL)https://youtu.be/lkyCmigcEcQ ..

Only on ryzen master tho. i cant afford to run at OC clocks 24/7. Bios OC leads to higher temps since i cant adjust voltage. That's one of the reasons im considering upgrading mobo to a b450 board.

I better spend extra bucks on fast rams tho. 3000mhz at least. i only got 8gb 2400mhz. OCed also to 2666mhz. although ill try to push it past 2666. maybe achieve 3000mhz. just go to dig some details on how tho. dont wanna play around manualing those rams yet.
