What's the deal with the desk? Is it custom? I'm using a giant dinner table right now to fit everything, but I'm going to set up a gaming office for the SO and my rig, and I want a large wooden L desk like this.

I built it. Two 96"x25" sections of birch butcherblock, stained with all the stains that have collected in my garage over the last 20 years all mixed together, and 3 coats of polyurethane. The back-boarding is just cheap pine fir strips that I used to hide all the wiring. The frame is 2"x2" steel that i let set out in the rain for 3 days rusting and then welded together and sprayed with clear laquer.

How instrumental was the 3 days in the rain to the success of this project?

Looks wicked though man, probably my favorite part. I feel a nice desk is one of the most overlooked parts of a setup.

LOL.....well I could've bought chemicals to rust the metal......but rain is FREE :) I agree with you, I hate seeing a really nice setup on a worn our cheap press-board desk.

The only thing I hate more that that is looking at butcher blocks on Home Depots website and seeing they're they're $200-400 for one length 🤣

Yep I got mine from Lowes for about $200 each. I'm a welder/fabricator/machinist so the metal was scrap that I brought home. So basically I ended up with about 16 feet of desk space for $400. Bigger, better, and cheaper than any desk I could go out and buy.
