AMD or Intel? $100 Difference.

Title, literally buying this after noon. Thoughts? Going to be used for gaming & streaming.

Price difference is about $100 for cpu and mobo give or take a few bucks. Only think 3800X has over the 9700K is hyperthreading...

I'm using the sn750 for storage but PCP didnt have it as an option so I adjusted the price.

Thoughts?

For streaming being thrown in the mix, definitely the 3800X or even the 3700X if you want to save a bit of money (not sure how big the price difference is right now)

Th extra 8 threads will help with streaming but the FPS in game is very little advantage for the 9700k

Out of those two configurations, AMD any day of the week. If you want to go with Intel, wait for Comet Lake-S to release and grab a 10700K then.

That being said, I improved your build quite a bit here:

If you can't find the RM550x in stock when you plan on buying the parts, I'd look for any B+ or better PSU from the tier list here. 550W will be plenty for this system.

You could stream with your GPU using NVENC btw, so you could even drop to a Ryzen 3600 theoretically.

You my friend, are smart. I'm gonna tweak a little for asthetics purposes since I can push to about 1750 max.

I've been hard set AGAINST amd because of the things i've heard and personal experinces... I hope this doesn't bite me in the ass.

I'm going to assume this was before the ryzen chips. This "new" lineup compared to their last iterations is extremely well performing.

The only issues AMD had on the CPU side was with first gen Ryzen and memory compatibility being pretty stringent but that's gotten much better with the 2000 series and even better with the 3000 series CPUs. On the GPU front though AMD had tons of issues with their drivers for a while but recently they fixed them.

As someone who switched from Intel for many years over the a 3700X myself I can say it's amazing and I don't regret anything :D

I've been good with my 980Ti and the 2060 was a little bit better. Didn't think I could get a 2080 in there...

I've been hard set against amd... maybe i need to give them another chance.

This is what I needed. Someone with actual, personal experience switch from Intel to AMD. Do you stream with your 3700X? I wanna do a 1080p 60 stream.

I don't stream myself, more of programming and other CPU application stuff but I definitely don't see you having any issues with 1080p 60 streaming :)

Looks good! If you want, you can get the normal H510 and just buy an RGB strip. They only cost like 15$

Cheaper AIO that still has RGB.

Better board with Ryzen 4000 support.

The Trident Z RGB is cheaper.

The Silicon Power SSD is better than the Crucial P1 for an extra $10.

You get 4 years warranty with the Gigabyte gpu when registered.

The Cooler Master H500 destroys the H510 Elite in terms of airflow.

I bought a 9700K. I couldn’t find a decent board for the AMD and whatever. I probably won’t see a Difference.

im on my phone so I don’t have the pcpartpicker list but here’s what I bought

The elite comes with those RGB fans and the hue2 which I don’t think the h510 has.
