Old laptop upgrade

I got an old hp g72 from 2010 it's got an intel core i3 330m it's an 2c 4t CPU I was wondering if I could put an i7 640m in there to get some extra power in that laptop?

My old VAIO with an I5 didn't boot with a better I7, so the best way is to look what processors were typical for the G72 and buy one of those.

There is one with an i7 640m

But I have the i3 330m model

Check the motherboard compatibility, or the CPU compatibility

And what did it say? We're not magic, we won't know any better than you if you check the compatibility, It's been a decade since those cpus launched.

On another note- Your laptop Is so old it really doesn't matter. You probably just want to save up for a new one.

That's a cliché, It's totally possible, just usually not. But a good reminder. @kes2006 you should probably check if you can swap the cpu or not.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to mess with BGA CPUs.

you can on a decent amount. i usually find that most older laptops are replaceable, and newer are ones tend to be the higher end laptops that have removable cpu's.

what they were trying to say, twice, is no one on here (as far as i know) is a human-wikipedia. we have the same access to the internet to find your laptop model, and check its upgrade-ability, as you. i won't speak for anyone, but i believe he's saying to look it up yourself lol

no one said anything about bga. you've never had a laptop with a removable cpu? i have 2 that are, and 1 that isn't atm lol

Though that CPU can be found both in PGA and BGA sockets, that laptop ships with BGA from what I found.

It has an i3 330m pga chip
