I am building a really basic NAS system.

AMD APU e-240

2 WD 3TB in raid 1

Its only job is to peridodically backup data from multiple home computers. I probably have about 1.7 TB in all, but it is in Raid 1 so it will be writing 3.4 TB.

How much memory is required for a small NAS system like this?  Would 2GB work?

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”    -Henry Ford

Please do BOINC. no matter how small a contribution it can make a difference.

1GB is probably more then enough for that config, you could go 2GB for an overkill or 4GB for a monsterkill, the sky is the limit.

Unless you're using ZFS, then yeah, 1 or 2GB would be fine. If you're using windows an your os then you might wanna go with 2GB as it can be a bit of a resource whore. Otherwise if you're using Linux or the like, 1GB should do it.
