Ya I had one blow up earlier today, damn that was loud. They are soldered into the heatsinks' fins. I got a whole pile of them now.

A proper pipe bending tool is best but others have already said placing on a piece of tubing with a spring works, filling the pipe if it's open on one end at least with sand for example works too. It's also a fact you can only get so much angle from a piece of tubing whether you have a spring or whatnot with it, if the bend has to be more gradual/spaced out to avoid a pinch in the tube, that's what you'd have to do and work with it that way.

BTW I know this is an older thread but the info is still relevant as is all the rest here.

I know there are many ways. The author of tread didnt say anywhere where he managed to bend them. He managed to do a 90 angle, which is what i am looking for. And judging by the pictures he did exactly what i would like to do.

Also i would love to know how he soldered those heatpipes. In the past i used heatgun on them to remove heatsinks from them. But seeing as one of the heatpipes blew on him, you have to be really careful. Desoldering is 1 thing but soldering is harder. So, how did he do it ?

How did you twist the heatpipes in the end ? And how did you solder them to copper base without them blowing up ?

This thread has been split from older. Please don't revive dead threads. If you have need for it, you can link to older thread and tag the people needed. Many times old threads also have members who don't use these forums anymore.

Ok, thank you. I hope the author of previous thread will come around and share his experience. I know there are many ways to do what he did but i am looking for the one with as few needed tools as necesary. Maybe he found some easy trick. So to sum it up, i am looking for:

1) simple way to bend heatpipes 90 degress
2) simple way to solder them without them blowing up, tools i have is heatgun and solder iron
