Gpu Litecoin Mining On Linux?

Have you looked into possibly using WINE? I know some of the guys do that for Folding. Doesn't actually work all that great apparently on Folding. Might be different for mining...

Whut? everything is born in linux.. Litecoin mining is exacly like bitcoin mining with a different command and scrypt instead of SHA256.

you will need AMD APP SDK "mining driver" http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/heterogeneous-computing/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/downloads/

you will need AMD normal driver http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx

you will need cgminer https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer

All of this is possible to recieve via the "wget" command.. and then compile afterwards, sounds scary but it isnt

What does not kill you makes you stronger... right?

  • 3 weeks later...

i'll be honest here.  i'm very new to the cryptocurrency world, but i have recently order all of my hardware and waiting for it to arrive to setup.

CryptoBadger has an excellent guide to setting up mining on Xubuntu with just a thumbdrive.

I'm at work and i cannot open the site but if you google cryptobadger it should be the first link.

(i cannot take any credit for any of the work, but as a new linux user, this guide is simple)

If I'm not running X, do I need all thos drivers? fgrlx stands for FireGL and Radeon for X, so I don't see how those packages would help...

Also, I'm glad I stumbled upon this post, I wasn't being notified of posts apparantly :P

EDIT: it seems I can't even install the catalyst drivers without x... I'm going to give this all a go without catalyst
