I mean, my turntable audio is powered by a second-hand $15 surround sound system where I just replaced the speakers with bookshelf/custom speakers so I'm probably not the best person to listen to on this but bookshelf speakers can be bought second-hand for extremely cheap and power amplifiers are the same, whenever I'm doing heavy gardening or house maintenance I pull out a 360wRMS power amplifier and steal the bookshelf speakers off my turntable setup and every time I'm shocked at how good it sounds. I've heard a bunch of cheap 'hifi' and studio monitor speakers and never found them to be better than a good pair of bookshelf speakers and a power amp.
