The Swedish thread that welcomed all Scandinavians wasn't good enough? :'(

They're sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it's better than drinkin' alone...

That is debatable. At the moment I don't like weather here. Too cold, too much rain. I hope when summer comes it would be atleast warmer.

thats what the indoors is for :p

Depends on how you view it, the extended use of "Scandinavia" includes Finland and Iceland. You're still our brothers! :)

In my and many others opinion Finland is absolutely a part of Scandinavia, we share quite a lot of history, especially Sweden and Finland!

haha if you look at Wikipedia it says what I said, normally Scandinavia is Denmark, Norway, Sweden but the extended use includes Finland and Iceland :D I think it varies, like what people consider to be continents and such.

I was in Finland once, started in Northern Finland and drove all the way to Helsinki passing a number of cities and the thing I realized is that while Northern Finland is quite nice, everything got gradually more depressing and gray the further south I got. And forgive me please for saying, my three days in Helsinki I was not a happy camper, it really is a dreadful city in the winter. One day I will return in the summer, maybe it will be better.

But of course I love your vodka, cheap prices and Sonata Arctica! :P

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Summers here are  wet  and cold or very very hot. Cheap prices? I think Norway have some of the highest prices in europe, but Finland is pretty expensive too :P

Well yeah, when you live in the most expensive country on the planet, 'cheap' is a relative term. Your cigarettes and booze is 1/2 and sometimes 1/3 the price it is in Norway, so that's good in my book :)

Afaik it's the language. All three languages have the same roots, while Finnish is different.

Then it doesn't make sense to exclude Iceland, since Iceland has perfectly preserved old Norwegian (it is literally the only country on earth that actually speaks 'real' Norwegian or Norse) - Current Norwegian spoken in Norway is a perversion from our oppressive union under Denmark where we were forced to write and speak Danish.

It is more likely cultural. Finns came from eastern Europe (Balkan and up and Russia) while Scandinavians are Germanic.

The indigenous people of the 'North Kalott' (Nordkalotten) the Sápmi, span across northern Norway, Sweden and Finland, but not Denmark so that's another awkward exclusion.

Some Neo-Sápmi music:

A good measuring pole for how badass the Nordic countries are is World War 2.

Finland defeating an army ten times it's size with a handful of men on skis, kicking the Russians' behinds so badly they turned tail.

Norway winning the first ever allied victory in a land battle against Hitler (in Narvik) and sabotaging the heavy water factory in Telemark so that Hitler didn't get the first H-bomb, which possibly won the entire war. Running the largest merchant fleet convoy in the world alongside Canada, supplying the entire allied war effort through sheer force of will.

Sweden, declaring neutrality after which it promptly stabbed Norway in the back and opened up all it's borders to the Nazis allowing Hitler to literally walk into Norway.

Oh yeah, that last one wasn't very badass, just shameful >_>
