It shouldn't matter.

Have you considered a WD Black. it is just a better drive all around than green.(minus the power saving the green has, but that can cause headaches.)

It all depends on the OS you are planing to install. With Windows, you don't need to worry about the Partitions, because most of the time Windows does all that for you.

In Linux, it also depends, because some people like to leave a Partition for another OS (such as Windows), so they can dual boot. Or sometimes its good to have multiple partitions in Linux if you are running a Linux server. You can setup a Partition to use for daily backups of your server.

Like I said, it all depends what OS you are planning to install, and what you are using it for.

Some companies such as Dell, like to Partition the main drive to have a few hundred megabytes just for OS Recovery. So in "My Computer", you will see 2 drives, 1  will be the actual OS and your Main Drive, and the other will be a drive named "Recovery" that is only a few hundred megabytes or so.  But most of the time, they will actually be just one drive, and just the partitions will be setup to look like 2 drives. So if you reinstall the OS on the main drive, it won't format the Recovery partition, and the files on the Recovery Partition will be safe. The only way you will loose the recovery files, is if the main drive fails, or if you format the recovery partition.
