I have a computer with windows 7 installed. I recently removed a hard drive from my uncles old laptop that had windows xp on it and plugged it into an internal sata port on my windows 7 computer. It has 139 gb available in total, but windows and all its installed programs reduce it down to 57. How can i delete windows xp from this hard drive?

Go into Disk Management and format it.

if your thinking about putting windows 7 on it and giving it back to him DONT heres why. That computer was ment to run windows xp not 7 you might be able to get away with vista buts thats it.

You'd be better off running 7 than Vista on it.

well vista uses less ram thats my thinking. if hes planning on putting it back in the computer. it might be able to run vista but more than likely trying to put windows 7 would cause the machine to slow WAY down.

You know, the reason why Vista was hated so much was due to its demand on performance. 7 solved this problem and did not use any more resources than Vista did, and in fact less in most cases.
