DisplayPort suddenly stopped while using VR system

As the title says, I believe this is an issue with the DisplayPort on my gtx1060. The error occurred when I was using my VR system, mid-way through playing after taking a short drink break it suddenly went off and wouldn't come back on. I went through VIVE's support and they gave me no useful information after sending them the system report. I have two vives and both of which have the same error when plugged in. I eventually came to the conclusion that the DP in the graphics card was the issue but I have no idea if there is a fix or if this has happened before. Thought I'd ask before I fork out for a new graphics card. Thanks.

It could be the cable it self so try changing that before deciding to change the GPU

Which cable are you referring to? I've tried using multiple cables with no succession to my knowledge. I saw a post to do with DP playing up with monitors and turning it off direct from power was the solution, didn't know if there was any other way similar to that for my issue.

I'm talking about the do cable maybe not delivering a signal consistently so it could be that
