Hi,

I followed the instructions to update from Windows 7 to 8.1 (no clean install) cause I

want to give it a shot:

- my date stayed on the hard disk, but it seems like most of the programms and

drivers are gone...

So, some questions:

- how do I know Windows 8.1 installed properly and that theres no rubbish or

missinstallation that could cause problem in the future? How do I know

Windows 8.1 installed as smooth as it should?

- Asus offers quite some drivers (espicially on bios), which

one should I update, which are unnecessary?

- Is it possible that some programms, which after the update

aren't on the OS, left behind files/other unnecessary stuff?

Here the link to the available drivers:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P9X79/#support

I appreciate the help!(:

Best Regards

PS: hope W8.1 works better for me, an EX-Mac Dude^^

@Mixmaster5

Basically all drivers should be installed. The ones you can skip are things such as bluetooth (if you don't use it), but the rest should all be installed. Drivers are not the same thing as motherboard software and are pretty much necessary. I assume you were talking about the special utility software etc.. and that you can skip.

And the bios already has firmware on it, and you just need to check if it's the latest version.

But Drivers like Chipset, Realtek Audio etc. were I guess deletet during the installation process...I had

had to reiinstall alot.

So most drivers on the ASUS site are unnecessary?

What about my other questions?

Thanks.
