980ti Upgrade

So today my GTX 980ti G1 died.

 

I'm looking to upgrade and not sure what's the best option.

 

I was thinking the 2080ti since that'll be the best performance upgrade over my current 980ti, but not sure it's worth the cost, any suggestions?

what is rest of your specs? buy rtx 2080 super now. Wait 6 months for new NAVI or rtx 3000 .seriies. then sell the rtx 2080 super. get rtx 3080ti or new rx 5xxx

For value the RX 5700XT is the best option (nearly 2070S performance). And with the price of the 2080Ti it is a hard pill to swallow, especially since Nvida is launching new cards later this year.

It comes down to performance expectations. Was your 980Ti satisfying you? If so, you could go for the minimal sidegrade, 2060-ish? If you have the cash and want to go for something nicer, you can always do that too. With rumours on next gen cards later this year it's kinda annoying to buy right now.

980Ti wasn't quite satisfying me no, I was starting to look for upgrades. This is another reason why I'm unsure of the upgrade due to new cards potentially coming out later this year

Thanks for this, yes part of my worry is the new cards coming out soon, but I don't want to dump money into something that will be a stepping stone so to speak. Any advice?

I still think the RX 5700XT is a great card and great value, it depends on how you look at it. TBH it is the only card I would buy right now. The alternative could be to get a used card that you could sell when the newest gen launches.
