Hi,

I’m planing to upgrade my rig this year, I was thinking about 2080s or something this class when ampere or Rdna2 come out. I’d like to build something small, I always liked Lian li tu150. I saw live from Linus and I wondered, is it worth to build pc in such small case with gpu of this caliber? Would it throttle? Is there minimal reasonable size of case with this much power?

I also saw nzxt 200 and saw that it’s bigger than tu150 but still smaller than rest of normal cases and if used with Sfx psu the airflow to gpu is pretty good.

In summary, is it good idea to put 2080s in mITX case?

Generally, it will run hotter in most ITX cases.

I’ve built in 4 itx cases - the Silverstone sg13, Rvz-03rgb, raijentek ophion, and the NZXT 210 - in this I did custom cooling.  I’ve done air, AIO and custom.

Out of these, only the raijentek caused throttling or shutdown even when the optimum cooling was used.

I would expect this to be the same case with the Lian-li - louder and hotter than a regular case, but also no thermal throttling under “regular” use.

The Lian-li and Nzxt 210 also allow for “standard” 120 mm fan tower coolers to fit in their cases.

Be careful not to get too large of a GPU.

So no, 2080s should not be a problem in the two cases you mentioned.  Expect them to run hotter and louder.
