Hey Guys,

I've been using my computer for a while now, and I haven't ran into any problems. I've been playing Warzone extensively for about two weeks now and I've been getting 140fps and no problems. Last night I opened it up and it was an absolute lag fest. Today I decided to run a user bench and I got these results:

UserBenchmarks: Game 112%, Desk 107%, Work 76%
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K - 89.6%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080-Ti - 133.7%
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 512GB - 155.1%
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB (2016) - 78.5%
RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR4 2400 C15 2x4GB - 73.4%
MBD: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING
It said my RAM, HDD, SSD, and CPU aren't performing as expected. Is this something to be worried about? Is there a way I can fix it?

Thanks for your help in advance guys, I appreciate it :)

I’d really try overclocking that RAM higher if you can, Intel may not benefit as much from RAM speed as AMD does but 2400MHz is on the low end, I have a DDR3 kit that does that. If not overclocking it i’d look into a 3000 C14/C15 or 3200 C14/16 kit preferably 2 x 8GB.

Quote me or @TwilightRavens if you want me to see your reply. I may go inactive for a long time from time to time because I forget how to socialize, but I will be back... eventually.

Hey man,

I appreciate the help, I'll give that a go, see how it turns out.

A good starting point would be to try 1.4-1.45v on the ram and see how high you can get the frequency, that voltage should be plenty safe as long as you have at least half decent case airflow.

I’m no expert at overclocking ram.  They’re around here though.  I am given to understand it’s exceptionally twitchy and time consuming.  More difficult than overclocking CPUs. Take your time, go slow, expect failur and roll with it. I’m not seeing a cpu overclock listed though you’ve got an Ocable chip and mobo.  Not seeing a cooler listed either.   If you got a stock cooler getting something with more gumption and OCing it might go faster than OCing the ram.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Yeah, I've got a GAMMAX GT cooler, it just wasn't shown because those were my Userbench scores. I'm researching how to overclock RAM, and I'm a bit nervous, I feel that I'm in a little bit over my head here, but I've gotta do it, because I updated my drivers and I'm still getting a hell of a lot of lag on Warzone that I wasn't getting on Sunday. Do you know where I should look to get good information on overclocking RAM?

I'll give that a go. I've got a Be Quiet Dark Base PRO 900 so I think it'll be all good

Sadly no.  I’m too cowardly to overclock ram.  This is a great place to get advice for it I’m just not someone who should give it.  What OC do you have on your 8700k and what temps?

I don't have an OC on my 8700k because I've never had any problems with it, so I decided not do touch it. Maybe I'll create a new topic and ask for RAM help?

OCing the cpu will do more than OCing the ram and it’s easier.  I think OCing ram got mentioned because there may have been an assumption that the CPU already had an OC.  There won’t be a ton there compared to older intel stuff 10-15% improvement is common.  Still, it’s enough to make it beat the pants off a 3600x.  My overclock experience is badly out of date.  The last cpu I overclocked was a 4770k which was before the whole boost thing got going.  TDP will go up fast with overclocking.  You will see a lot of heat.  Possibly more than that gammas can handle.  It can take some though.  It’s better than the stock cooler so there is at least some room.  I put a 6 pipe viperX (a cooler that isn’t even made anymore) on mine.  This is another one where there are people that will know their way around a bunch better than me.  There should be tons of videos on YouTube specifically on clocking that chip.  Watching them (more than one) can give you a good grounding.

First I’d get Thaiphoon burner to see what IC’s your RAM is, like for example if its Samsung D-die you can get pretty far with voltage with somewhat lax timings, same goes for micron E die. Hynix CJR and DJR and MFR in my opinion are the trickiest to overclock as i’ve not been able to squeeze much out of them. Samsung B-die and Micron E die (rev E are probably the easiest).
