Brought an old IBM tower server home today. P4 hyperthreaded with 8gb of ddr2 ecc and a gt730 passive graphics card. Model of the tower is a x series 206m. Now I've done a couple win 98 builds this last year with P4 dells and as awesome as it is to run 98 at light speed this machine is a little on overkill for that. And then I know I can run xp on something much faster without issue. So what do you guys think I should do with it? Open to any ideas other than throw it in the garbage....those comments have to wait a couple days to see if there are useful comments first lol.

What operating system do you plan on using? I wouldn't mind something like that to keep around here just don't know what to toss on it. I'm sure I'm going to fight with drivers on it no matter what direction I go. I was just looking and some pretty fast p4's are available for cheap on eBay. I don't even know what one is in it yet lol

Well this was brought in because "it didn't work" I opened it up cleaned out a clogged cpu heatsink, scraped off the concrete thermal paste repasted and lit it up. Threw a pci error but booted past it. 80gb drive is basically full but cpu and memory load seemed low. So I'm going to toss a new drive in and reload something. Might try and cut open the pcie x8 slot so I can drop a x16 card in it. Got a Quadro k2000 I'll be pulling out a machine at work lol. Should be old and low powered enough. Maybe I'll make an xp gamer out of it or something...dunno but it's too cool to toss out.
