So whenever I boot up my computer my task manager will show that 15%-25% of my memory is being consumed. If I just leave my computer running and don't do anything on it...after an hour or two the memory will now be at 75-90%, and eventually the computer crashes.

I'm usually running Chrome on Windows 10.

I've made sure to close all chrome tasks when observing this issue. (The picture below does have chrome in it though)

The bulk of the memory is this "Service Host".

Anyone have ides on how to fix this?

  • 3 weeks later...

This is a somewhat known problem.
There might be some service that is not running as expected. Make sure that your Bios , drivers , and of course windows is up2date.

Open up an elevated Command Prompt by typing "CMD" in Start, right-clicking on the first option, and selecting "Run as administrator." Enter "sfc /scannow." After this, enter "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth".

This is a "solution" that works for many people but not all of them.

Otherwise you can perform a Cleanboot of windows. It will show you if any of your programs is causing these issues.

Last but not least, it may require a windows reinstall.

That's all I can do for you.

checked drivers.

Used command prompt and got this:

Does this error mean this will not help fix my issue, or just that I did something wrong? (This was after running the scan)

Just want to make sure before I try to move on to the next steps. If I need to can you explain "cleanboot".

Thank you
