im thinking of upgrading my gpu. rn my system is i5 4590, with a gtx 650.if i wanted to rtx 2060, would it bottleneck my cpu? and if yes, what is the latest gpu that i can buy for my system?

Probably a 1050 ti.A 1060 would do about 20% bottleneck. I would say upgrade your cpu but if you don't have the money and you only want to buy a gpu,a good one is a 1050ti

you still should go for rtx 2060 , it will bottleneck but not too much , or rx 5700xt from amd

It bottlenecks about 50% of the performance lol

Are you using some kind of online bottleneck calculator? Because those things are bullshit. You can't measure performance that way.

That i5 is going to be a problem in any newer game. I'd recommend getting a 1660 Super and preparing to replace the rest of your system down the line.

No but i have searched a combo between the i5 4590 and some latest gpu's like the 2070 and the gpu usage is about 50-40% on the newest games

That doesn't mean it will bottleneck it by 50%. It will definitely be CPU bound as that i5 needs replacement, so I'm not disagreeing with you there. It's just that applying any kind of general percentage to it is pretty misleading. It depends on a lot of factors. If the OP was 4K gaming for example, then it would do better.

Yes and i'm sorry that was my mistake but there will be a pretty decent bottleneck with that CPU and a 20 series GPU

im only gaming on 1080p setting, would the bottleneck matter? what is the consequences of bottlenecking if let say i decided to slam the 2060 into my system?

What will happen is that the 2060 won't be utilized to it's full potential,

In severe bottleneck cases you won't see a difference in performance between a 1660 Ti and a 2080 Ti.

What i recommend is to buy the 2060,and later upgrade the CPU,RAM and motherboard to a newer platform such as 3rd gen Ryzen or 9th gen Intel.

it could be a farther future that i could upgrade my system once again, so do i still spend for the 2060, or just be satistified with 1660, or dont upgrade anything and save for a whole new system?

Saving for a new system would be better since new and better CPUs and GPUs are on the way - The RTX 3000 series and 4th gen Ryzen.

So if you wait and save for a new system you will get more for your money.

Well if you were to keep your CPU, then something very low end like a 1050 Ti as the above user mentioned would work.  A 2060 would work, it's just that you won't be getting a lot of the performance you're paying for.

However, that's why I recommended getting something in the middle and also upgrading your CPU, motherboard and RAM. Upgrading to a 1660 Super with a Ryzen 1600 AF (along with a motherboard and RAM) would cost you a little more but gain you way more performance. You could also take Vishera's route, which will give you the most performance but also cost significantly more.

if we were to talk 4th gen ryzen and rtx 3000 series cards, how much do u expect a full gaming/streaming system would cost? so i know how much i should save in advance

Nobody knows how much the next generation will cost. Last time Nvidia raised prices. They might do it again.

If you already have a monitor, for a decent rig I usually recommend $800(US). Save up what you're comfortable spending, and when you're ready, create a thread with the appropriate information. Lots of people will happily suggest the parts for you.
