So to start I have all updated drivers and updated windows 10

Specs:

Motherboard- Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3

GPU- XFX Radeon RX 480

CPU- Ryzen 3 1300X

As of right now i’m just using a SSD.

So my problem started when I got a new Amd update with the new UI as I haven’t updated it in a long time. I started messing with the display settings then my screen starting glitching. The symptoms are a short moment of ‘normalness’ then everything but the mouse freezes for example my taskbar won’t highlight things and nothing will respond then the mouse and everything is completely frozen this is all in a matter of probably 20 seconds then it goes black and repeats this for as it seems forever although between each phase I guess I can open and use my computer but I have to be fast and it would just take a long time and a lot of the times programs just crash. I’ve formatted my drives i’ve tried to see if it’s my drives and I haven’t been able to see if it’s my other components because I don’t have any spare parts. I’ve even rolled back to previous amd updates and the problem still occurs and the computer acts normal with the no amd driver. And i’ve noticed really weird changes like for it to work the gpu usage has to be at 100% and I have to have amd radeon software open. This has been ongoing for a month now and it keeps getting worse and I have no idea what to do. Feel free to ask questions I will appreciate any help I can get.

This was happening on my rx 580, I turned up the POWER LIMIT to 100% and fan curve a little higher and haven’t had any problems since

an update through windows or amd?

no i mean i never updated my graphics driver for a year. something in the windows update ruined it which made me update the graphics driver. it fixed it immediately afterwards.

i updated the graphics driver. that fixed it somewhat.

if it didnt fix it along with maxing the power limit try doing the thing below since it could just be corrupted driver

Use DDU to completely uninstall the Graphics drivers(video instructions available online)

then install the latest Graphics driver.
