Good US Computer tech universities

I was wondering what Universities were good for Computer Science and stuff. I want to go into computer hardware and maybe like networking or something. I was also wondering what kind of degree you would need to design phones? I'm not entirely sure what that would require knowledge wise. As far as formal education how much is actually  needed in the tech industry?

MIT, Champlain College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are the three colleges I'm looking at here in the Northeast with Champlain being my go to. Also look at UCLA, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Full Sail, and I heard that there is good program at the Uni. of Illinois.

The OG System: I3-2370M @ 2.4 GHz, 750GB 5400 RPM HDD, 8GB RAM @1333Mhz, Lenovo Z580 Laptop (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS).

 

Peripherals: G602, AKG 240, Sennheiser HD 6XX, Audio-Technica 2500, Oneplus 5T, Odroid C2(NAS).

I suppose another option in the Northeast is Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I graduated from there, but I wasn't a comp sci major, so I actually have no idea if their program is any good or not. xD

UCLA has a fancy pants semiconducter lab I believe
