LootCrate!

No, this isn't an advertisement.

I recently got interested in a potential subscription box; a monthly box where you get items around a theme (typically shoes or makeup), but I recently discovered LootCrate, one designed around gaming, and nerdy stuff. February's box is already out, but I think a lot of you guys would love what it contains. January's box was themed around space, and this month's is 'warriors', with stuff from the show Bravest Warriors taking center stage (the show is by Pen Ward, the guy who made Adventure Time. It's like a more racy version of that).

So anyway, it's like $18 a month, as they usually have $3 coupons for something. I got one this month, and I think a lot of users here would really appreciate it!

Also, when they start shipping (tomorrow!), people who get them can post their thoughts here.

I hope it's worth it, and can't wait for mine!

It's definitely an interesting idea. Sort of like that site where you can pay to have boxes shipped to you, only you have no idea what's in them.
Could be a $2 pair of sunglasses, or an Ipad.

The only issue I see with this is they can easily screw around with "retail value".

Well it's a bunch of stuff, not one item, which is good. That way, there's no 'oh it's $40 retail' for one crappy item. The guys behind it are really into it, and they pick really good stuff.

Yeah I looked through some of the old packs and there were some decent items like that shot glass.

Unfortunately it makes no sense to get it in Canada. I might consider subscribing when I start my monthly trips south of the 49th though. $11/month is well worth the surprise.

Yeah, they seem to get stuff people actually want. The surprise is the best part, as you said; if you saw what was in it, less people would buy it, and opening it yourself wouldn't be nearly as fun.

Oh, and how are you enjoying winter? I'm right below the border in Vermont, with a heater that seems to have a mind of its own...

It's been pretty nice actually, where I am right now we had snow for about a week, maybe a little over a week of combined rain (not straight), a week of combined -8 temperatures (which is ultra rare here), and the rest has been sunny blue skys and between 6 - 12 degree temperatures.

Pretty warm. I just wear a hoodie when I go on my nightly walk.

You guys on the east coast have just been getting blasted by the winter though eh?

I'd hate to be over that way.

Though...I do miss huge amounts of snow.
