3 27" 5ms 60Hz Displays Nvidia Surround or 3 24" 1 ms144Hz ?

islandg@m3r

Hey guys trying to decide on the ideal monitor setup for gaming in Nvidia surround. Plan to get one of the above mentioned now and 2 down the road for surround.

Monitor Selections:

1.  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FE6DNM2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2J0I6BGHE38FL&coliid=I39V7ZETAM1R3Z  (x3)

or

2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313 (x3)

Which path should I choose?

P.S. Do Not Plan to use anything 3D, just regular surround for 3 monitors

144hz ftw!

However keep in mind you will need a badass setup to push 3 displays in 144hz if you are gaming.

I'd go for 3 24" monitors, but don't really see the point in getting 144Hz monitors. You're going to need some serious horsepower to push more than 60FPS if you're wanting to max things

right now I either getting a MSI N780 Gaming OC 3GB GPU or a Evga 780 Classy since I only getting one screen now and then two more down the road in addition to another 780 or 780 Classy so I can SLI.

what r ur thoughts on this route???

24", 27"@1080p looks kinda bad.

Have you ever had a 27" 1080p panel?

How far do you sit back from your monitors? That should play a huge part of your decision.

When compared to a 23" the difference is noticable. Not to say it's awful.

Either one would be great. Right now I am not sure one GPU can push 144 fps on 3 screens though.

Then I'd consider going with the 27's if you have the room. It's really not that bad compared to the smaller monitor when you're viewing from a distance.

Think of it in relation to TV's.

Don't underestimate the amount of desk space required though. It's quite large unless you're going to stand them in portrait.

It's hardly noticeable at all if you're sitting at a distance. Distance is key when factoring in PPI.

so ur saying pretty much If I plan to go surround, stick with lower frequency display and if I not going surround get the single higher 144Mhz monitor?

Also since I plan to SLI down the road, can SLIed 780s or 780 Classys push 144Mhz x3 displays, or No?

Well if you can buy the high refresh rate monitors there is no reason not to. If you can stay above 60 it is a win if you get what I mean. Although once you SLI, gaming surround with even 80fps would be a dream..

As for if they can do it probably but maybe without MSAA. Personally I think framerate is much better than surround but that is my personal opinion.

Also one small correction. You say mhz but Hz is a measure of frequency (so is mhz). So 144hz is 144 refreshes per second. 144Mhz would be 1440000 refreshes I think. Might have been a typo but still :P

my bad on the hz an mhz typo  :D

so wat do u recommend single 144hz or x3? single or x3 27" 60hz? the 27" has almost no bezel and it is currently $20 more than 24" 144hz but comes to $10 less than 24" 144hz after rebate.

thoughts?

I would do 144hz. But that is just me and I know others might prefer the thin bezel. However if the 144hz is cheaper without a MIR I would do the 144hz also.
