Hello!

I am looking to buy a gaming laptop for somewhere around $1000 and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a laptop that would be better than another. I would like it to be able to run games such as Escape from Tarkov and Rainbow 6 Seige but I understand if there is a need to go higher in price for that kind of performance.

Thanks!

Is there any specific reason you want a laptop, are you using it to where it needs to be mobile? If you plan on just setting it up on a desk and using it for gaming a dekstop would be better suited. Gaming laptops are pretty meh, usually they are overpriced and aren't super upgradable.

This is always my first question when someone asks for advice about a gaming laptop: why do you think you need a gaming laptop? The only usecase in which a gaming laptop will be more convenient than a regular PC is if you are constantly travelling around, and would like to game while you do so.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

That is true but in my case I do travel around a lot and would like to still be able to game while I'm in different locations however I am also considering getting a desktop / upgrading my current one. If I was to get a laptop I would be selling my desktop that I have now.

I would just keep in mind that going for a gaming laptop gets you less for your money, and won't last as long as building a desktop will.

i'm also searching for a gaming laptop around that budget

well currently i have my eyes on ASUS TUF Fx505DV, it's the only laptop with RTX 2060 with a price around $1099, i'm planning to get this one but i'm still researching how come an RTX laptop can come with that low price if there's a catch i wanna know

the other choice that i have my eyes on are either Gigabyte Sabre 15 P45W which come with a 1060 6Gb which is nice, also i'm looking into Acer Predator Helios 300, all of my friends recommended that one and said it was the best bang for the buck laptop

alternate choices are between Dell G7, or MSI GL63
