difference between modular and non-modular psu?

Modular has cables that can be removed when not in use, allowing you to only plug in what you need. Non modular means that you cant remove the wires and all of them are in your case attached to it.

Semi-Modular is a good deal, the motherboard and CPU connectors are always required anyways. I would only get a modular PSU for cable sleeving, or if it's exactly the same price (or very close) as the semi/non modular counterpart. A modular PSU has removable cables, so you don't have to use all of them. But to be honest you can get a very clean cable routing with a non-modular PSU and a very messy cable routing with a modular PSU. ;)

Yeah, what @tryphaa said.

You can always hide the cables you don't use in a non-modular PSU, but I always felt using a modular one made it look cleaner. If you're using a smaller form-factor case, a modular PSU can be a lot easier to deal with.

The modular power supplies have the cables set up so you  can remove them when you aren't using them. They also tend to be bigger (length-wise) and cost a little more.

Non-modular have all the cables you should need and aren't able to be removed. This tends to be the better buy in cheaper/ small builds.
