  1. I can make do with the extra size and weight of the 15" if 16gb will really be necessary. I'm just potentially worried about 256gb not being enough space.
  2. On my gaming pc, I have 8gb, and while I do cut it close occasionally, that's only when playing games or streaming them. On this, where I would at most be using it for web browsing, watching streams, etc, I don't see a need for 16. If I wanted to go to 16, I'd be losing out on SSD space and I would also have to make the jump to the 15" retina.
  3. I know letterboxing would be much more prevalent on 3:2 than it would be on a 16:10, so that's another big deal. As for the hinge, I'm more worried about the connection potentially wearing out or failing more than I would like it to. SSD wise, I think degradation could be a valid concern, especially if it is near full capacity. Blows my mind that Microsoft would use such a horrendously cheap SSD in such a high end device marketed at professionals.
  4. Fair enough, and I do have 6s Plus, so that all works out. Which of the two would you recommend with those specs above?
  5. Cannot tell if you are biased or not because of your Lenovo Avatar. I really don't like the design of them that much. Since i'll be using this machine every day basically, I would really like to love the way it looks.
  6. I feel like it really comes down to how much I value writing notes in comparison to just typing all of them out. The 3:2 aspect ratio of the Surface frankly doesn't appeal to me, the potential issues with the hinge design/connecting and disconnecting the screen, potentially losing the pen... The saving grace for it for me is the familiar OS, pen support, and keyboard I much prefer using over the MacBook. Oh, also the 512gb ssd in the MacBook that absolutely tears apart the 256gb drive in the Surface book. I know the write speeds are atrocious in it and it also uses TLC.
  7. I don't see how any of the 3 I've narrowed it down to wouldn't last at least 4 years. I've chosen these for the build quality/trackpad quality I've used Windows my entire life, but I know I could adjust to OSX's seemingly simplistic nature. Given my choice, what would you go with? The MacBook, while I love the design, just doesn't seem like it would last me 4 years. The air has a horrid screen, and that turns me off from that. Also, sorry for double quoting, don't know how to undo it.
  8. So I am currently looking to buy a laptop that will last me my four years at NYU. My current options are: 13" MacBook Pro with an i5, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd, 15" MacBook Pro with an i7, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd, or a Surface Book with an i5, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd. All cost roughly $1700 after best buy's discounts or through the Microsoft student discount program. I will be studying Social Work, so I probably wont be doing many intensive projects, and I do not edit photos or videos. This will mainly be for taking notes, media consumption, and the occasional project ( which could vary ). Which should I go for? Before anyone says it, yes I know new Macs are coming in June, but the whole point of this is to potentially get $300 off of a plenty capable 2015 model.
  9. I'm talking about everything, monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc
  10. Not really interested in parting it out. Want to just sell it all at once. I was hoping to get around $1100-1300 for it all since all of the parts/monitor/etc are still basically new.
  11. My specs are: i5-4690k 8gb HyperX Fury 1866mhz z87 MPower Gigabyte GTX 960 G1 Gaming 2gb 1tb Seagate Barracuda 128gb Crucial SSD NZXT Kraken x31 NZXT s340 Corsair 600m 2 Dell s2340(Can't remember if it's M or L) Razer Deathadder 2013 Ducky Shine 3 blue led, mx brown Any help on naming a price would be appreciated.
  12. So ever since i've gotten my mpower, it's had this piercing blue led light that flashes continuously and I cant get rid of it. It's in the lower right corner. Any ideas on how to stop it?
  13. Meant to mention the warranty is for the 280x. That's why im in a rush.
  14. Actually been looking around. Microcenter's 15 day money back warranty ends tomorrow though, nobody wants it right now, but I do plan on selling it.
