Hi all,

Please give me any suggestion on how i can improve this build, alternatives and if its any good in the first place  :) I plan on buying a PC within the next few days.

Budget & Location

Australia, $1500 - $1600

Aim

I want to build a small(ish) silent running PC while still being able to achieve 1080p@60fps on high / ultra setting on modern titles (BF4,FarCry3 etc) and also sort of 'future proofing' for games like Witcher 3.  Also interested in dabbling into Overclocking as well.

Monitors

Currently I have 3x Dell UltraSharp 23 inch displays.

Peripherals

I have a copy of Windows 7, keyboard and mouse.

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ( $278 @ CPL Online )

CPU Cooler:  Corsair H55 57.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ( $85 @ PCCaseGear )

Motherboard:  ASRock Z87M OC Formula Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ( $199 @ PCCaseGear )

Video Card:  Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4GB ( $579 @ PCCaseGear )

Case:  BitFenix Prodigy M Arctic White MicroATX Mini Tower Case ( $109 @ PCCaseGear )

Power Supply: Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ( $188.57 @ Mwave Australia )

Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ( $115 @ PCCaseGear )

Case Fans:  Antec TrueQuiet 120 35.8 CFM 120mm Fan ( $19 @ Mwave Australia ) x 4

Storage: 1TB and 500GB HDD and a 120GB SSD.  I have these already.

Total: $1629.57 ( A little over budget but I'm okay with that)

Concerns:

1. As this being my first time building a PC my biggest concern is if all these parts are compatible and will they all actually fit in to the case I've chosen, especially the video card.

2. Should I swap out the fan in the CPU cooler for a Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan or maybe even use another  Antec TrueQuiet 120 fans?

3. In regards to the Power Supply, I checked out the system requirements for the R9 290 Tri-X on Sapphire's website and it recommends using a 750W PSU. Now this confuses me a little as I have seen other peoples builds only using 600W - 650W PSU.  If i can get away with a smaller PSU i could save a bit of cash for something else.

4. Any suggestions on the best fan setup for airflow.

Your build is fine how it is right now, even the PSU, it give you a little bit of breathing room for upgrades.

However, personally I would use the stock intel CPU cooler and save for a bit then get a nice liquid cooler like the h100i maybe.

Lastly, I don't know your current level of expertice in PC building but, I know when i first built my PC i watched damn near every one of the videos on linustechtips and NCIXcom

The low end liquid coolers aren't the most sensible IMO. I would either got for an air cooler (which is going to be as effective and less loud) or save a little bit of cash for an H80 or 100i which are really good coolers that give you room to overclock while running quietly in normal use. You could get a 600W PSU which would work just fine with that setup in order to afford that perhaps?

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

Absolutely !!

After watching several (hundred) build videos I kept coming back to Linus’s build tips.  Without a doubt, I would have never had the confidence without his ‘make it look easy’ build tip videos.
