Yes your AVR or UPS just has to be large enough for the total load you plan to put on it so if your system for example only uses 400W max there is no worry.

A PC power supply only supplies what's required of it and only draws from the mains what it requires to provide that power.

 

As long as your load isn't over 500W, a 500W AVR is fine.

To give a rough estimate that should use around 350W, a bit more if you overclock so a 500W AVR/UPS unit will be more than enough for everything including peripherals and networking equipment.
