This is a challenge that I have to do with a couple of friends for a 500 dollar prize pool.

I need all of the items to be located in Victoria and or shippable for a reasonable price.

I saw an add for a radion 5870 for 2 bucks working so if you can find a full sized optiplex for under 30 bucks that would be great.

Btw there are extra points for the most money that you save.

I will be responding to all replys

You'd spend your whole budget on a psu. The 5870 is a super power hungry card and cannot be used on a psu that does not natively support the necessary connectors. Even if you find some cheap unit that does have the connectors those are most likely making false claims and will blow sooner or later. Only buy tested good psu's that you can find here on the tier list from b tier or higher.

Basically a 50$ gaming pc is not possible unless someone is tossing out their old core 2 machine.

I found someone online pretty close to me who is selling their old machine.

Specs are as follows,

I5 650

8gb ddr3

380watt psu

And a gigabyte lga 1156 as the board.

All of this for $26

And the GPU looks in the eBay pictures as though it does not need any pci power and only needs the power from the slot but I will follow up with the seller

I really doubt that you can do any sort of useable halfway modern PC for ~50AU$

It has to run some eSport titles at stable framerates at 1080 or 720

Titles are,

Rocket league

Csgo

Minecraft

And be able to run the heaven benchmark by unigine

Link the listing of the video card.

Off the top of my head i dont remember a 5870 that only needed pcie power but i could be wrong.

But even if it does just need pcie slot power not all motherboards support more power hungry cards. The motherboard might not even be made to allow the slot to have the max slot power.

There exists no hd5870 that does not need at least 2 6 pins.
