Hey guys.

I just wanted to test my old Hitachi HDD  drive which I connected for block testing and after an hour PC rebooted with message below.

This never happened before, and the HDD was supplied over separated SATA rail, and I only have SSD connected with it.

I turned off PC disconnected the drive it was damn hot.

So should I continue to use this PSU or I need replacement to avoid possible damage?

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

Asus motherboards throw up the power surge message any time there's an unexpected shut down/power off. Lots of things can cause it, not necessarily related to the PSU.

I'd try running the system without that old HDD in it and see if it still restarts.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

I'm just doing it,I'll game a bit...all was fine until HDD was tested,

But damn HDD is a tiny power consumer.less then 10 W.

What could happen dunno...

Lets see in games what will happen,iw it will happen again I guess I need new PSU,huh?

Aha.
Shutdown of what?

Now I'm really anxious about my PC components..

Should I maybe switch to GPU with lower TDP?

I mean in case some component fails, hope not...

I did research over google, and seems problem is common one,and some people didn't solve it...
