So i bought a pre-built pc like two years ago and I feel the graphics card i a little too old for the games i play . I'm not a computer guy that knows a lot about PC's and i want to ask you if the RTX 2060 its compatible with the specs i give you .

CPU : i5-8400

GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Motherboard : MSI B360M Gaming Plus (MS-7B19)

PSU : 500W (I don't know which model is because i have a strange thing over it ; I will provide you a photo)

Hope that's all you need to know , but if I lack some information you can ask me .

PS : sorry for bad english if i have some mistakes .

First you should clean that desert.

1050Ti is fine for 1080p Gaming in most cases.

Well it's not a high end card, so it has it limits. I can see you only have 1 RAM slot populated, that slows down your PC as well. (Quick example: https://youtu.be/kCg7eVN6N9w both use 16 GB ram but the single channel is about 10-20% slower in games) I would consider maybe sell the ram and get a 2x8 GB kit.

As for the GPU, if you are using a 60hz 1080p monitor, and you want to play GTA V and Dead by Daylight, I think a 1660 Super would be enough. If you're not too concerned with the price difference a 2060 works as well of course. (Example: https://youtu.be/-SwF7vRewfQ keep in mind this test is with 8700k etc, but you can see approximately the difference in fps)

Finally your PSU should be enough. Maybe in a pre-built it is good, maybe it is a bad model, we can't know. Technically you should be fine since 500W is enough, I don't know a lot about PSUs though, I just refer to the PSU tier list on this site: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40/

Keep in mind that your new card will need an extra power cable, most likely 6 pin or 8 pin, so you need to connect your PSU directly to your card like this: https://i.redd.it/15dq7vf1ymq21.jpg

@mercoSo if I am to buy a 1660Super would fit  in the motherboard ? "Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING OC 6G, 6GB, GDDR6, 192-bit" it is good? It is the on my country site and got no review.. mhm. What about Subnautica ? Will i get at least 60 fps on max settings? I'm really a fan of that game and I don't play it that much cause I have bad fps even on medium quality :(((( I use a 75 hz 1080p monitor .So shall it be perfectly fine if  I would buy that Asus GeForce GTX 1660?

Edit: what about rx5700?

Yes every GPU fits in the same PCIe slot on your motherboard.

I can tell you there is not a lot of difference in terms of performance between the cheap and the expensive models. Usually the more expensive models have better cooling and lower noise level.

What you should do in general is look up the specific model on google and see if you find anything bad about it. I remember for example the cooling performance was really bad for ASUS TUF Gaming 5700 XT. But this one is a slower nvidia card. Might be okay, I found nothing bad about that particular card. After seeing bad reviews I would stay away though.

Personally I had good experiences with Gigabyte Gaming OC or Windforce models. I could find those for 230€ before here in Germany which is a good local price, I'm not sure what your country is.

Subnautica

Well I found this on a German site for example: https://i.imgur.com/SpWlxdM.png (You can see how all the GPUs perform when you have the best CPU and great RAM etc.)

Keep in mind these are maxed out settings.

I can give you another example where some guy tested with a 1660 (normal version not super version) and he changed some settings as you can see in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpJpDtgm5To&t=220s

His average fps are a bit over 90 right, and the max setting screenshot from before shows average fps of 48.3 for the standard 1660

I encourage you to look around like this for benchmarks, do your own research as well.

what about rx5700

rx5700 and rtx2060 are similar in performance. For example subnautica you can see from the picture the rx5700 is about 12% faster than the 2060. Another game maybe the 2060 is faster. Again it will depend on your country too which one you should buy. I can find an rx5700 for 306€ here and the cheapest rtx2060 is 315€. Ask yourself what is the highest amount of money you can spend? Don't go over that amount. Look at cheaper options. Compare benchmarks.

I can find the 1660 super for 225€. So if you go for 5700 you pay like 30% more. Look at benchmarks and videos and ask yourself is it worth it? Performance in Subnautica is also about 30% more. So in this case it really depends how much money do you want to spend?

Another thing to consider is AMD has had driver issues in the past. If you are unlucky you get blackscreens and crashes. I have a 5600 XT and it runs fine though. Latest drivers seem to have brought a lot more stability for a lot of people with AMD cards too. I paid 267€ for my card (Usually it starts at 299). It is a bit slower than 5700, but I saved around 30-35€. I had no problems playing all games on ultra so far. If I had seen a 5700 or a 2060 for 270€, I would have bought that one. Very simple descision after all in my case.

Here is another example 5700 vs 1050ti: https://youtu.be/skbQXwqBH9g

This would be another one for 1660 super vs 1050ti: https://youtu.be/EhLMzE79lgI

and this one would be 1660 super vs 5700 https://youtu.be/uKTQ2Pq_baQ

Well as I said earlier I don't know the prices in your country, but I think all 3 cards would be good for you. I always try to wait for sales and a good price for the hardware I want. I don't have a lot of money in the first place so I try to save where I can. If you have some cash might as well go for one of the 2 more expensive cards though. Who knows maybe in your country you find 1660 super for 280€ and 2060 for 300€? Then go for the better card, it's only small difference for a lot more performance. Hope you see my point there and this helped you out to find your own decision :)

Hehe well in that case I can tell you exactly where I got my card it was a mindfactory.de "mindstar"-deal. Definitely a good place to look, if you can find one of the 3 cards there it will be a lot cheaper than usual price. Otherwise I just look up idealo.de which compares prices on all the other sites.

Hmm as I said earlier I don't know much about PSU, but in the tier list it is D-tier which is not great.

You should get a second stick of RAM before anything else, that's a no brainer. You could use a better GPU too for sure, both the cards you mentioned would be good with your system. Just get a second stick of RAM first.

Ok that's another thing to consider thanks!

@mercoI have found that the RTX 2060 Super has GDDR6 memory slot and my motherboard has 2 x DDR4 memory slots . Will it fit????Again im not in computer things but i was checking the motherboard specs with the gpu specs😬 I see that on https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/?compatible_with=FYrYcf is compatible with my motherboard ...

Yes it is not related. The GPU has GDDR6 VRAM (integrated memory in your graphics card), your RAM sticks for your computer are DDR4 (memory for your system for example 2x8GB kit).

Hehe no worries, the only thing a motherboard needs to accept a graphics card is a PCIe slot. All of them have it. It is different with CPU for example where you would need a different socket for AMD or Intel.

Yea . As I told you I really want to learn more about PC's cause I really don't know much about it so I'm scared of my own choices :DDD

That's understandable, we can only know so much and a lot is still confusing for me as well. I watch a lot of tech youtubers and I always try to use google to understand more about it. I found it a great hobby and distraction over the last years. Even though I had a bunch of computers in my life I just recently built the first one from scratch 2 months ago, so I learned a lot during that time. Once I started building it myself I didn't want to make a mistake and so I tried to learn everything I can about all kinds of stuff. I found out most of it is very interesting how it works and how to build it. :)

I ordered the GPU and I dunno if the GPU is heavy enough to bend my PCle slot

This is unlikely unless you have a really heavy card. Your motherboard is even built to prevent this. MSI calls it "PCI-E Steel Armor" which basically just means they put some metal on the slot to make it more stable.
