Hi everyone,

A few days ago my msi RX 480 gaming X began to work less stabile i got a lot of stuttering and in some games my pc went into a black screen with no display connected and the fans on the rx480 went to full throttle.

So i would like to hear your feedback on this if any of you have the same problem and if so is there a fix for it.

But anyway I have been looking to upgrade my GPU anyway but i am not sure which one is best for my system.

my current setup is:

CPU: ryzen 5 1600x (stock speeds wraith spire rgb fan)

Motherboard: MSI B450M gaming plus

GPU: MSI RX480 gaming x

RAM: 16GB G skill trident z RGB (3600mhz)

PSU: corsair VS550

Case: coolermaster masterbox MSI edition

now I would like to stick with team red foer the gpu and i have been looking at a RX Vega 64 liquid cooled (with a PSU upgrade to the recommended 750W)

I also would like to have the least bottleneck on my system and preferbly game at 1080P 144HZ

but i would like your input on which GPU to take for this upgrade. and please tell me why

budget is around 300 euro or around 330 usd

Your PSUs issue isn't wattagez it's that it's super low quality. I'd suggest getting a TX 650W

around 300 euro so 330 usd and that is depending on GPU / PSU pricing

Is that the reason for the stuttering and crashes or just in general

If you need to go AMD on the GPU, then the Vega64 is the only decent GPU they make in that price range. The other option is going with an Nvidia GPU, and getting a 2060 Super. You get the benefit of RTX, as well as a more stable GPU.

your system tend's to crash with a crappy PSU, but Corsair doesn't make THAT bad of PSUs. They aren't top of the line, but they aren't garbage either.

Don't judge a product by brand. The VS models are pretty damn bad garbage.

Could be - unstable power supply could cause all sorts of issues. I'd at least test with a different one to rule it out. The VS models are notoriously bad soo

Different brands have different quality control standards. Corsair would not be viewed (In general) as a mid/high end brand if they didn't have those standards in place.

I think that @5x5 may be right. The PSU should probably be your first upgrade, and then if it's still not working, save up a bit more for a new GPU.

The best advice is never to skimp out on PSU.

The 5600 XT is also a very good option at your price point if you decide to upgrade the GPU first.

well true but in my eyes if i get a 550 w psu for a 450 rating from amd for the 480 and corsair is kinda a known brand i would expect it to work which it has done for about 3 years

It shouldn't be, maybe 2-3 dropped frames (possibly, not 100% sure), but overall the 1600x should be more than capable of handling a 5600 XT

Option 1: 5700 xt (Higher End)

Option 2: rx 580 (lower end) + better PSU

Option 3: Save Until you have enough cash a high end GPU and PSU

Outside price range: Radeon VII - It really isn't worth it.

unless you are doing CPU intensive tasks, it should be fine.

well i am just looking at the GPU's for now PSU can be done later. and a 580 would't be much of an upgrade tbh

If you can find one that's good too.

I would be concerned about the pump on one of those cards though. Another possible point of failure on what is likely a used card

Yeah, it really wouldn't. a 5600 xt or a 5700 xt is probably your best bet.

rx 5700 is the best for you rn. if you cannot find it at good price try to look used rx 5700's. Used Vega64's go for good prices too.

Vega 64 is a bit worse than 5600 xt or 5700 xt. Vega 64 is also 3 years old, and you will probably have to buy a used or refurbished card.
