Hey there, first thanks for reading and trying to help.

Heres the problem, Ive got a i5 9400f with 16gb ram and a 2070 super, I know the cpu is a little bit under for the gpu, but it works fine, the thing is that when im playing some games of high demand i get peaks of temperature of 80C and an avarage of 70C. I want to buy a cpu cooler, and was wondering if you could give me some recommendations, ive made some investigation and came up with a list, but dont know whichone to buy, some have high CPF but low air pressure or viceversa;

-gamemax gamma 500

-thermaltake contac silent12

-deepcool gammaxx gt

-deepool gammaxx 400

-hyper 212 black edition

-hyper 212 black rgb

I know probably 70C is not really high temperature, but for next games to come, I wanna help my new pc last longer, and if i can put a cpu cooler for that I will do it :).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Do temps get any higher? They seem normal for the stock cooler.

Have you tried testing with a synthetic load? I personally use OCCT.

Hey! avarage 72C and has peaks of 80C, no i have not tested it, i know its not such a high T but i would like it to be lower to make it last longer, what do you think of the coolers on the list?

80c is fine and lowering the temperature most likely won't make it last noticeably longer. I'd recommend trying a heavier synthetic load for temps since actual usage probably wouldn't get the cpu as hot and that may give you some peace of mind.

If you want to get an aftermarket cooler anyway for other reasons like lowering noise or aesthetics, that's fine as well. Any of the coolers you mentioned would be better than the stock cooler and more than enough for cooling.

What case and ram are you using? Where are you shopping / located?

Its a kingston hyperX 2x8 2666hz on a cooler master mb511 case, Im located in Chile.

Which cpu cooler would you go for on the list if you had to choose one or atleast top 3.

Thanks!

Also yes I would like to change the cooler for noise and aesthetics! haha

I'm guessing you're referring to HyperX Fury?

The 9400f is pretty easy to cool so any of them would be fine  If you want to get a better looking cooler, you can go with whichever looks best to you.

What kind of pricing are you looking at? Can you link us to where you're shopping?

Price aside, the Gammaxx GT and Hyper 212 BE are pretty hard to go wrong with for low noise and if you're not planning to upgrade to and oc a more power hungry cpu.

I see, yes hyperx fury, I do plan do upgrade cpu but not now, the pc is New, its a pre build,  dont judge me on that, i have never built a pc and this was my first high end gaming pc, and this was the best pre build i could find, maybe a ryzen 2700x could have done a lot better.

Now, about the prices im on my phone but i could give you somekind of price order with some prices i remember

hyper 212 black rgb $60us

hyper 212 black edition $58us

deepcool gammaxx gt $50us

deepool gammaxx 400 $40us

gamemax gamma 500 $30us

thermaltake contac silent12 $27us

Those are the actual prices, i have memorized them haha

There is nothing wrong with buying a pre-built.  There are couple of things to do before you order that CPU cooler:

1. Figure out the case specification.  The case should have a max CPU cooler height limit.   You can then compare that to the CPU coolers to make sure they will fit.

2. Watch some videos on how to remove thermal paste

3. Make sure the CPU cooler comes with Thermal Paste (if you aren't sure, then buy some because you will need it).

Now which CPU cooler to get?  Well that will be up to you.   As others have said really any of them should work.

Hey thanks for replying! Ive done exahusting investigation about dimensions, installation and all the points you mentioned.

About the coolers, you think you can give me a hint on which one to buy, i know all of them will do the job, but which one will do it better, give me a top 3 por something to work with haha

If you're into rgb, the Gammaxx GT is a decent low noise option whereas the Hyper 212 RGB BE can provide a bit better cooling with a higher rpm and louder fan if you want to oc a bit later.

The Gammaxx 400 is also alright if you think it looks good. The Hyper 212 BE is similar if not a bit quieter but it's usually notably cheaper than the RGB BE.

Thanks a lot thats exactly what i needed, over here in the shop where i would buy the 212 be and rgb be, they are nearly the same me price haga, $2 US difference.

One other silly question, do i have to take the motherboard off, or can i install it in the case.

Also, how much thermal paste haha, just a dot or better a cross?

The case has a motherboard tray cutout for accessing the back of the board. There's probably no need to remove the motherboard.

Thermal paste application doesn't usually make a huge difference but I usually do a pea sized drop at the center for lga 115x.

Yeah, you can do that. Try not to touch the thermal paste.

Best practice is to apply new paste but I find that the difference in performance is negligible if the paste has been recently applied.
