Safe underclocking

Go to solution Solved by Fasauceome,

Lower power means less stress on the components overall, there's no physical risk in reducing clock speeds.

As a mild curiosity I have been underclocking my Asus 1070 Rog Strix down A LOT, like 268 MHz as of right now low, and was wondering if there was actually any danger to the hardware in doing this? I don't have a reason to do this but do want to proceed with even lower clock rates if I can safely do so because why not.

Thanks for the help!

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

? why ? If you want to increase lifespan, UNDERVOLT. Lowering clock speeds without adjusting voltage is just. Lowers clock speeds :) Decrease the actual voltage.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )
