So i recently changed my wifi plan to a 400mbps internet speed, the wifi is fast and great, it is wireless. I use a TP-Link ARCHER AC1300 wireless adapter, but ever since i switched internet, The TP Link just switches to my old and not working wifi. Therefore, when I am playing games, it just randomly dissconnects and I have to reconnect, but i get lagged out by the time i reconnect. I need help. Can somebody please Help me? How do i lock it onto only one internet connection? As you see in the pic, there are 2 Sky7's The 2.4GHZ is the right one but there is also a 5GHZ wich i do not want it to connect to. 905375029_TP-LINKWirelessConfigurationUtility4_6_20204_11_00PM.png.5fc2508090c3344ebfc2212749f412e0.png

Does the old Wi-Fi router/AP need to remain in use? If you've cut-over to a new/faster service/provider you should be able to disable or disconnect the old Wi-Fi.

You can disable the 5GHZ band on your ISP modem /access point or if you ISP access point allows then change the SSID of the 5GHZ band to say SKY7_5GHZ

Ideally you should be using the 5Ghz band as that provides more bandwidth. This is also the reason why your adapter tries to keep connecting to it as that is the preferred option.

I think you have not configured your TPLink Ac1300 for the 5GHZ band on your ISP/access point. What ever security settings you have done on the accesspoint for this new device in the 2,4Ghz band you need to repeat that for the 5Ghz band also.

So i talked with my dad and he told me the 5ghz offers less coverage but is stronger, and the 2.4ghz offers more coverage but the signal is weaker. We are probably going to completely shut down the 2.4ghz since it is not the one i want to be connected to. Thanks for the help!
