Hi guys, I'm planning to buld a gaming pc. However, i'm quite unsure which motherboard i should buy. I have chose the motherboard that i wanted, however i'm quite curious about something. This is what is says

  • s3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors support DDR4 1866/ 2133/ 2400/ 2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200 Mhz by JEDEC, and 2667/ 2800 /2933 /3000 /3066 /3200 /3466 /3600/ 3733 /3866 /4000 /4133 /4266 /4400 Mhz by A-XMP OC MODE
  • 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors, 1st and 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics Processors support DDR4 1866/ 2133/ 2400/ 2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200 Mhz by JEDEC, and 2667 /2800 / 2933 /3000 /3066 /3200 /3466 Mhz by A-XMP OC MODE

The motherboard that i chose is MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI, and I'm planning to get a Ryzen 9 3900x and G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin RGB DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model. I just want to ask, what is JEDEC and what is A-XMP OC MODE, and is my DDR4 memory or ram going to be compatible with it? Can someone like clarify what is JEDEC and A-XMP OC MODE? and What is s3rd Gen Amd Ryzen? Thanks.

JEDEC is what defines the specification of DDR4 memory, XMP means a memory profile that's better than JEDEC's specification tested by the manufacturer on that memory kit to be stable. 3rd gen AMD Ryzen = Zen 2 CPUs.

but I wont recommend that board, especially with 3900X since its power delivery to the CPU gets too hot pretty easily. Asus TUF Wifi and Gigabyte Pro Wifi are my recommendations (Elite WiFi as well if it's cheap)

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

Model: HP Omen 17 17-an110ca CPU: i7-8750H (0.125V core & cache, 50mV SA undervolt) GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Mobile (+80/+450, 1650MHz~1750MHz 0.78V~0.85V) RAM: 8+8GB DDR4-2400 18-17-17-39 2T Storage: HP EX920 1TB PCIe x4 M.2 SSD + Crucial MX500 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD, 128GB Toshiba PCIe x2 M.2 SSD (KBG30ZMV128G) gone cooking externally, 1TB Seagate 7200RPM 2.5" HDD (ST1000LM049-2GH172) left outside Monitor: 1080p 126Hz IPS G-sync

Desktop benching:

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

the APUs, 2200G, 3400G, 200GE, 3000G etc. All have G in the name

No. R5 3600 for example is 3rd gen but a Ryzen 5. APUs are 1 generation behind, so 2200G is actually a 1st gen part, Exception is the 3000G, it's a 1st gen part

Asus TUF Wifi

The motherboard you recommend me

TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI), it says this

"3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors
4 x DIMM, Max. 128GB, DDR4 MHz Un-buffered Memory"

Does this means that i can put any memory/ram?

it has to be DDR4 unbuffered, so no RDIMM (buffered, = registered as well)

and,  TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI), what is Addressable Gen 2 header(s)? Does is work the same as ARGB headers?

idk

Ok, i completely don't understand what you are saying here, can you simplify, does it work for my G.skill trident z neo 2x8gb 3600mhz F4-3600C14D-16GTZN?
