Hey I had a question,

Is it safe to use asus GPU tweak for OC mode in software? I have read on multiple occasions that this can make the card to die in this mode.

is the software not stable?? should I uninstall it? and if I do, will my card overclock by its self? RTX 2080 rog.

is it safer to uninstall software for good temps and reliable card over time?

Thanks so much for your time!!!!! means a lot.

I'm new to this

And without software, is this card in gaming mode or silent mode?  or oc mode?

thanks!!!

All the modes do in software like this is modify the fan, power, and clock targets. I find them to be marketing gimmicks more than anything. The card on it's own will always be trying to boost as high as it can via Nvidia GPU Boost, with final clocks being largely determined by temps.

Using something like silent mode will likely just create a different fan profile and perhaps lower the clocks to allow the card to run quieter without getting too hot. You will lose performance.

What they call OC mode is really just the same as no software being used at all.

This is different than the similarly named OC Scanner from MSI's Afterburner software. That will automatically attempt to overclock the core frequency of the card while simultaneously checking for instability. This can theoretically gain slight clock speed advantage over no software intervention at all, however, with a decent cooler you're likely to be pretty close to max clocks on a third-party card via GPU boost anyways.

Hope that all makes sense. My suggestion is to just uninstall the ASUS software and use something like Afterburner to modify fan curves if you want.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

OK! thank you so much for your time.

So, what you mean is uninstall the software? I do not want to overclock. I just want reliability over time. and does it make it less stable with the software? should I not use it?

Thanks!!

It doesn't make it less stable, it just doesn't really add any value in my opinion. If you are finding some portion of it useful then you aren't harming anything by continuing to use it. Worst case you lose a little bit of performance in a mode like silent.

I would uninstall it if it was me.
