Could somebody explain to me why this is so expensive given its specifications?

With the specs listed below doesn't justify the price ($929.00 USD pre-tax; MSRP: $1,324.91 USD).

I don't plan on buying it, obviously. But it keeps popping up on my Facebook feed, lol.

 

4-Core Intel Core i5-8365U 6MB Cache 1.6GHz to 4.1GHz

4GB 2666MHz DDR4

2.5" 500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD

 

Considering it's an AIO that is literally profiled into a compatible monitor stand, I would assume it's the design of the motherboard and form factor of the computer. But...

It's a slightly older PC that was either never sold and they are still trying to get full price for it, or it's a refurb and they want to rip someone off.

Either way, it's a ripoff based on the form factor. Someone who doesn't know any better will buy it. It may not be today or tomorrow, but some day...

Thats where about half of the price comes from. Consider this as business level design laptop. You get about same price range. Obviously general consumers are not the intended target group. But some offices, retails, schools. Pretty much anything where space requirements make having slim design better vs having whole tower or even laptop.

 

Also, don't watch price too hard. I imagine these are sold in bulk and with monitors combined. Which will make it more affordable with the business grade warranty.
