Hi, I'm new in Pc building and I'm trying to build a decent desktop computer without breaking the bank. I have two main options and I wanted to know which one is better. 1. Upgrading an old desktop that is currently running with a GA-A55M-DS2, AMD A4-3400 with Radeon HD Graphics 2.70 Ghz and 8Gb of Ram. 2. I have an Inspiron 5558 Laptop with a broken screen laying around and I could put it in a case with a better fan and a SSD (i7-5500U 2.4 Ghz, 8Gb of Ram and NVIDIA GeForce 920M).

1. Budget & Location

I would like to pay under 800 CAD but I don't mind paying a little extra if it is worth it. I'm living in the Montreal area in Québec, Canada.

2. Aim

I will mainly use it to play video games such a COD, Civilisation, Lol and Borderland. I may occasionally have to use it for work and run 3D software like Solidworks.

3. Monitors

I don't have any monitors yet, but I would eventually like to have 2X 18-22".

4. Peripherals

I already have a good keyboard, a mouse and a headset.
