So I have this HP laptop with a GeForce 940MX GPU. The driver is quite old (397.xx). So i want to update the driver, but the latest driver on the HP site is the same one as that in my laptop. Should I update the driver with the latest one from the NVIDIA site or leave it with the old driver?

You can look to see if there is a driver update on the HP website, but I would suggest a driver update from NVidia's website as I doubt Hp will have a current one.

You shouldn't, if you do just let us know here and we can help you the best we can.

Go there and input your device info.  It will pull up the driver which you can download and run as an EXE to install.
