Was looking around for fan less systems (because bored during lock down)  i came across this system by DFI  (https://www.dfi.com/product/index/177) i wanted to see if there are any reviews on it but none from any major youtuber so was hoping linus(and folks) would make a video on it

thanks for reading my first post :)

i am trying to look if I find any updates or news on this still, found this news piece related to it somewhat by Tom's Hardware (https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-ryzen-embedded-tiny-raspberry-pi-computer)

Just now, noxdeouroboros said:

4th gen Intel cpu. 600$ usd and up? Ridiculous.

i mean, it's an industrial box with lots of specialized connections on the back.

it's bound to come with a hefty price tag.

It's very outdated though, don't you agree?

oh absolutely, but the listing on the site is almost 8 years old at this point.

they also have the same box with updated internals, i believe up to 7th gen. still kinda old, but these boxes are meant to be used in packaging lines or other industrial applications, which don't require lots of horsepower to run.

Not really for Linus audience imo. Also they did a passive system review a while back, a much more modern version for wider audience.

That thing is industrial automation gear, not a gaming machine.  Note the comment at the bottom:” 7 year life cycle support ending q3 2019”. Also the term “embedded” There’s no support for the thing.  It’s got a passel of very specialized ports but if it requires specialized drivers or whatnot you’re hosed.  The only possible reason to use something like that is if you actually need those specialized ports.  (Yes they’re just serial ports.  4 of them though, and some stuff I can’t even identify)

If the point is that you want something fanless  you can build a zen2 3600 white box fanless using the big nofan cooler (it’s huuge) and a fanless PSU.  That thing likely sucks for anything it wasn’t specifically designed for and is probably useless for that too these days.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
