1,5Gbps problem

Hi I want to know if there is a possible way to use 1.5gbps.

I have a 10gbps network card and a cat8 Ethernet cable but when i speedtest I only have 940 download and upload

But if i make a speedtest through the Bell internet router they go up to 1,49gbpss

What ports does the bell router have?

 

You will probably need 2.5g,5g, or 10g nic on your pc, and switches that can do that aswell.

The router got 4port of 1000mbps, I understand that is the limite for the connection I got when I speed test. but I want to know if there is a possible way to use my 1,5gbps

Your internet speed will be limited by the slowest point in the connection. Here, it's your router's LAN ports at 1Gbps each.

 

You can contact your ISP to find out if they offer gateways/modems with LAN ports that exceed the usual 1Gbps speed.

See if you can get a modem with a 10g port. 

 

Otherwise see if the router supports link aggreation or bonding of some sort.

 

You probably need 2 devices to get the full speed.

Highly doubtful the Bell box is going to have 10g ports, or they'll have a different modem available (except potentially for business customers, and you'll probably need to provide your own router/aps in that case). You'll more likely have to think about having that 1500mbps available to split among your devices.

 

Now that speeds past gigabit are becoming available, I bet there's going to be a lot more posts like this has built-in networking hardware catches up...

The point of Gigabit or faster is so that multiple clients can get a fast speed at the same time, not so that a single client can do those speeds.

 

Many servers only have 10Gbit links which will be shared with maybe hundreds of users, how would you expect to get 1.5Gbit out of that?
