Im looking at a way to make a cheap but mildly powerful multipurpos server. I wanna use an amd processer but im not sure which one to get. im not looking to spend a fortune. i plan on a nas. mabey a plex. and ifnally a game server. (minecraft among other things.

I had thoughts of the r5 2600.

I had thoughts of the r5 2600.

Look at the ryzen 5 1600af...its basically 99% the performance of a 2600 but around $20 cheaper at $85usd

you will need a GPU if you go for any non APU options unless your board has onboard graphics which only a few expensive server asrock boards have.

im aware i plan on using my gtx970 since when i make this server it will have been long since replaced by a rtx 3080ti or somthing

1600AF is the best budget new. maybe a used 1700x/1800x
